Starting at the beginning of May and running thru the end of October 2023 I will be guiding for river smallies in Wisconsin. The rivers you will fish include the Chippewa, Flambeau, and Jump near Lake Holcombe in Rusk County. Another beautiful partly sunny fall day. A light breeze from the east south east with a high of 66. Both the Flambeau and the Chippewa Rivers are extremely low. There is no significant rain in the forecast for the foreseeable future. The fishing started off slow but it picked up in the early afternoon. The smallies were not on the bank today. Most of the fish we caught were about fifty yards off the bank in approximately four feet of water. Cindy hammered three beautiful smallies that weighed 3-12, 3-14, and 4-2. She caught all three of these big smallies in the span of about an hour. A picture of Cindy with that 4-2 is included in this report. Total fish for our 7 ½ hr. trip was 33. That included 28 smallies, 4 walleyes, and 1 northern.
