Starting at the beginning of May and running thru the end of October 2023 I will be guiding full time for river smallies in Wisconsin. The rivers you will fish include the Chippewa, Flambeau, and Jump near Lake Holcombe in Rusk County. I will continue to guide full time in East Tennessee from November thru April 2023.
Today I took one of my good friends and a local in the Lake Holcombe area fishing. Dave on occasion has jumped in with me to fish both in the summer and fall. The conditions were less than ideal. A weak cold front was passing through the area today. There was a strong west wind creating small white caps on the Chip. The lows the past couple of days have been near thirty degrees. That has dropped the water temperature into the mid-fifties. The fish were a little more active than I thought they would be with the water temperatures dropping so quickly over the past couple of days. We fished for five hours and caught twenty-five smallies and two northerns. One of the northerns I caught was thirty-five inches long. Dave is a great guy and a lot of fun to spend time with on and off the water.
