I made an early season trip up the Little Pigeon River with long time friend and client Greg and his buddy Jerry. In my opinion it doesn’t appear that the spring migration of smallies from the French Broad has started. The water temperature was 54 degrees and was gin clear. They fished hard and managed to scratch out ten smallies. Greg caught the biggest smallie of the trip. A picture of him with his 19 inch fish is included in this report. Some of the best river smallie fishing of the year is right around the corner!
