The day before the fishing was challenging due to discolored water and increased current, but as the Little Pigeon River began to settle down the smallies turned back on again today. I caught 20 smallies, but the highlight was this egg-laden 5 lb. 7 oz. beauty. She was 21 3/4 in. long and put up a great fight. The pre-spawn movement of smallies up the Little Pigeon River continues as the water temperature warms into the low 60’s.
