For the first time this spring we did see some smallies on the beds in the Little Pigeon River. The water is low and gin clear right now. The trip started out sunny with very little wind. But as the day wore on a front moved in with clouds, light rain, and a brisk southwest wind. This turned the big smallies on and we managed to catch a dozen smallies that weighed a total of 35 lbs. in one area on the French Broad River. Pictured above are the two largest fish of the day that were 21 3/4 and 20 1/4 in. long.
