I had the pleasure of  taking Gary and Kathy from Kingsport, Tennessee for some smallie action on the Little Pigeon River. This trip had been a long time in the making. We had been discussing since last fall when we could schedule a date to hit the river. Due to work conflicts and the fishing conditions being less than adequate we had to delay our trip together several times until today. It certainly was worth the wait as the fishing conditions and the weather were perfect. The Little Pigeon was low and clear and the weather was ideal with bright sunny skies, light winds, and temperatures in the mid-sixties. We had experienced some stability with the weather and water conditions for the past several days which usually bodes well for a good bite. And that is exactly what happened. Gary and Kathy caught twenty-six smallies in four and half hours of fishing. The majority of the fish were in the 15 to 17 inch range with the biggest smallie coming in at 18 ¾  in. weighing 3 lb. 3 oz. They had decided that the trip would end at 4:00 so I made a move to a spot that had been fishing well over the past several days. They caught a few nice fish and then all of a sudden hooked up with a double. They both successfully whipped their fish and posed for a picture that is included in this report. Before releasing them I glanced at my watch and the time said 3:58. We gave each other that look of acknowledgment and agreed that this would be a great way to end the trip with a double on Little Pigeon River smallies. Greg and Kathy were a lot of fun and great people to have on the boat. I was happy that they were successful in landing some really nice smallies on this beautiful spring day.
