I had a great time guiding Bob and and his son Bobby from Farragut, TN on this sunny, hot, and steamy Saturday. I had the feeling that it was going to be a good day of fishing when Bobby hooked up on his first cast. With some fisherman they believe it is a jinx to catch a fish on their first cast and that it portends poor fishing for the remainder of the day. However, that was not the case today.

We started fishing the French Broad with great success and had to motor up the Little Pigeon after TVA started to run two or more generators at Douglas Dam. There was a lot of gentle ribbing and good natured one-upmanship going on throughout the afternoon as father and son landed thirty quality smallies during their six hour trip. The majority of the fish were between fifteen and nineteen inches. The big fish honors of the day went to Bob who caught a beautiful twenty-one inch smallie that weighed exactly four pounds.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the water with Bob and Bobby and I am looking forward to their next father and son River Smallie Adventures duel.
