I had the pleasure of guiding Seth and his Dad (Jack) from West Virginia today. Seth has done a lot of smallmouth fishing on a variety of lakes including the well known Michigan smallie fishery of Lake St. Clair. The skies became clear overnight and with a northwest wind today the bite did slow down with those classic “cold front conditions”. However, both anglers fished hard and managed to catch 22 smallies. They were a variety of sizes and were running a bit smaller than the fish my clients have been catching over the past several days. Regardless of their size Seth could not get over how hard those river smallies fought compared to their cousins he has caught in lakes. He was so impressed he has already booked a date to return in April 2023. A picture of Seth with a stout Little Pigeon River smallie is included in this report.
