Hit the water again today with Greg from Knoxville. He has been a loyal customer as well as a good friend over the past few years. He has had an exceptional fishing season with me this year. Today we fished the same section of the Little Pigeon where he has worn them out the past few weeks. That section of the river has “cooled down” recently, but it is still fishing well. It appears for the most part that the fish he was catching are post spawn smallies. The smallies he caught the first half of the trip were scattered until we pulled up to spot where we found a good concentration of fish. He caught several eighteen inch fish in that location as well as a citation smallie that measured 20 3/4 in. A picture of Greg with that trophy fish is included in this report. By the end of the trip Greg had caught 26 smallies. Just in the month of April I have watched him land nearly 200 Little Pigeon River smallies. He also caught several twenty plus inch fish this spring all which were released. Greg is a lot of fun to guide because he has a real passion for catching river smallmouths. I look forward to future trips with Greg this month as his uncle from Florida joins him here in couple of weeks.
