Another beautiful day to chase those river smallies on the Little Pigeon River with Dan and Tom. It was a little cooler than yesterday with the highs in the mid-seventies and not as windy. The water was slightly stained. My hope was that if the fish cooperated like they did for the two of them yesterday it would be another productive day on the water. That is exactly what happened. They caught 28 smallies. The same number of fish they caught yesterday, however, the fish were running a little bigger today. In fact, Dan caught two citation smallies that were the same length and weight. Both fish measured 20 3/4 in. and weighed 3 lbs. 10 oz. They both were thin and I made the assumption that they were post spawn smallies that were strapping on the feed bag. A picture of Dan proudly holding up one of those trophy smallies is included in this report. The majority of the fish were in the fifteen to seventeen inch range. Dan and Tom were a couple of great guys to have in the boat and I thoroughly enjoyed guiding them the past couple of days. They have already scheduled a couple of more days of fishing later in the month. I look forward to putting them on those post spawn smallies as they make their way down the Little Pigeon and back into the French Broad River over the next several weeks.
