Today’s trip with Mike and his son A.J. was long in coming. We had several dates set before, but the weather and water conditions didn’t cooperate. We also had a third angler join us today. Tom is A.J.’s high school buddy from the Nashville area and also is an avid angler. All three are experienced fisherman which made my job easy. The post spawn French Broad smallies continue their exodus from the Little Pigeon River. The Little Pigeon was stained, but it fished extremely well today. The bigger fish were actively feeding. Ten out of the twenty-two smallies they landed were between 17 and 20 3/4 in. Tom had the big fish of the day. The picture of him hoisting his 20 3/4″ Little Pigeon citation smallie is included in this report. I was happy the conditions finally afforded them the opportunity to experience what this smallie fishery has to offer. All good things are indeed worth waiting for.
