Hit the water today with Mike. He is in the military and has moved to Knoxville with his family to complete his master’s degree at UT. Mike is an avid angler and wanted to get a feel for what the fishing opportunities are like here in East Tennessee. He wanted to catch some smallies but was open to catching other species of freshwater fish. The smallie bite was tough today especially for the larger fish. Mike caught several “undersized” smallies but the larger fish had lockjaw today. He is an excellent angler and caught some white bass and catfish on a day when the bite was extremely tough. A picture of Mike with a chunky white bass he caught is included in this report. He said he wanted to take another trip so I encouraged him to book with me in April. Although I guide for smallies all year round that is the hot month for catching good numbers and sizable fish as they migrate up the Little Pigeon River to spawn. I hope I get the chance to get this avid river angler back on the water sometime in the spring of 2021.
