We had the pleasure of taking Rob and Lori fishing today. They live on the Flambeau River and befriended them a few years ago after meeting them at a boat ramp near their home. We have taken Rob fishing with us a few times, but could not get our schedules to work to get Lori out on the water for a few hours of smallmouth fishing. In fact, she had never caught a smallie before but all of that changed today. She caught a smallie on her first cast and I joked as I frequently do that she put a jinx on the trip by catching that fish with that first cast. The smallies were having none of that fishing superstition. Not only did she manage to catch the first smallie of her life, but she caught what most people would consider a trophy in this neck of the woods. A stout fish that weighed 3 lbs. 14 oz. A picture of Lori and Cindy celebrating the catch and release of this dandy smallie is included in this report.
