Today we made a run back up the Flambeau River to fish that same section we did yesterday where we caught some really nice fish. The rain from yesterday exited the area overnight and we were greeted with sunny skies and a light northwest wind. I would characterize these as “mild cold front conditions” which can slow the bite. This section of the river over the past few years has not been known for numbers of fish but the size of the fish has been quite impressive on certain days. True to form we only caught 14 smallies today, but seven of those were between 2 ¼ lbs. and 3 1/4 lbs. No four pound plus footballs today, but several of those fish were some real tanks. An example of this would be the picture that is included in this report of Cindy with a smallie that was only 14 ½” long that weighed an attention getting 2 lbs. 9 oz.
