I have fished this section of the Flambeau River for over 35 years and I have seen a number of large smallies that weighed in the high fours hoisted into the boat, but none that what I would call a legitimate 5 lb. fish. Today that changed with this 20 1/4 in. 5 lb. 1 oz. bruiser that I caught in high water conditions at the point of an island.
