Started the day fishing the Jump in anticipation that the fall migration had begun like it appeared that it had on the Chip and the Flambeau. However, that would not be the case. The watershed for the Jump had received very little rain over the past several weeks and it still was running low, clear, and warmer than I would like for this time of the year. The water temperature was sixty-eight degrees and the fishing was surprisingly slow. I caught five nice smallies in three hours of fishing and decided to make a move and fish the Chippewa River. I’m glad I made the move because I managed to catch eighteen quality smallies during the remaining hours of this cool fall day.
