Today I fished a section of the Flambeau River further upstream from where I normally do during the fall. The conditions were perfect. Cloudy and misting rain throughout the day. The kind of day when you think it is going to be one of those great days on the water. However, it was not to be. I started fishing around noon and the fish did hit the first hour. After that the bite went completely dead. I fished many of my go to spots without a nibble. I have seen this before and after four hours of fishing I decided to pack it in and head to the ramp. I only caught five smallies, but one of those was a fat Flambeau football that was 19 1/2 in. long and weighed 4lb. 9 oz. that is pictured above.
