I went back to my old stopping grounds today after yesterday’s slow fishing on the upper Flambeau. The water temperature was an unusually warm sixty-four degrees for this time of the year. The water is still about a foot high on the Flambeau so I was still making most of my casts to the bank. The bank fishing was slow so I backed off and started to catch fish twenty to forty feet from the bank in two to three feet of water. After five hours of fishing I caught seventeen smallies between fourteen and nineteen inches long. The biggest fish weighed 3 lbs. 14 oz.
